CUI Releases 5, 10 W Encapsulated Medical Power Supplies

CUI Inc announced the release of a new ac-dc power supply series designed for medical applications. Available in 5 W and 10 W configurations, the VSKM series is housed in an encapsulated package with pins for direct PCB mounting. The units are compact, with footprints measuring 2.00” x 1.00” for the 5 W models and 2.10” x 1.12” for 10 W models. The VSKM series is suited for a range of medical, home healthcare and dental applications, carrying UL/cUL 60601-1 safety certifications, EN55011 class B EMI compliance, and a nominal leakage current of 100 µA at 230 Vac input.

The VSKM series offers universal input (85-264 Vac) and is available in output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, and 24 Vdc. Features of the VSKM series include over-current protection, short circuit protection, and a primary to secondary isolation voltage of 4,000 Vac. In free air convection, ambient operating temperature ranges from -25 to +70°C. The VSKM series is available immediately through Digi-Key with prices starting at $15.55 per unit for 100 pcs. SMT Connector Powers LEDs From Underside Of Board

Tyco has introduced the SMT thru-board connector, which supplies power from the underside of an FR4 or aluminium-clad PC board, eliminating issues of dressing wires on the top side of LED boards. The two-position through six-position connector surface mounts on top of the board, passing through the board to present an underside interface. The connector mates with standard Mini CT connectors. The inverted design allows simpler assembly and installation of solid-state LED lighting in architectural, residential and commercial applications.
