SGS To Host Project Risk Symposium 2009
SGS is due to host Project Risk Symposium 2009 on 17 June at the Gibson Hall in Bishopsgate, London. The event will focus solely on the issue of project risk and experts will share their views on how diverse risks can be managed effectively during the recession. The industry experts will cover financial, political, legal, technical, operational, environmental and social risks.
Milena Stoyanova, head of financial services at SGS, said: 'In this economic environment, we are seeing customers demand more and more transparency and greater understanding of the risks involved before entering into large-scale infrastructure, energy, mining, oil-and-gas or agricultural projects, whether it is from the investor or the sponsor side. 'Assessing the diverse nature of risk today goes far beyond a traditional financial assessment of the project.
'Investors and sponsors want to understand and prepare for everything from market and political to technical and environmental risk - and every single thing in between,' she added. The symposium will also address the subject of sustainability in project finance. The day will consist of a mix of panel discussions and speeches and will feature guest speakers from the financial, risk-management consulting and industry and regulatory worlds, complemented by SGS experts in the field of project risk management.
