Fenn Tool Installs Anca Grinding Machines

A manufacturer of quality cutting tools has invested in a range of high-volume, auto pallet loaded, seven-axis CNC grinding machines from Anca to help deal with its increase in volume of business. A recent expansion has seen Fenn Tool relocate for the third time, to ensure that the company is able to keep pace with the burgeoning demand for its growing range of products.

Fenn Tool's new, Braintree, Essex-based head office and technical centre incorporates a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant. To help satisfy the volume of business from its established UK/Irish customer base, plus a growing export market, the company's new production facility incorporates a range of auto pallet loaded, seven-axis CNC grinding machines from Anca. The company's collection of Anca grinders includes two Anca RX7 machines that are capable of accommodating 500 tools on a pallet, ideal for use within Fenn Tool's advanced 'lights-out' production facility.

Company operations director, Martin Fenn, said: 'We have always chosen to acquire further Anca grinders due to their reliability, ease of use, the quality of the tools they produce and the excellent back-up we receive from Anca UK. 'Although our two Anca RX7's are relatively compact grinders, they have the power, strength and working envelope usually found in much larger machines. 'The reliable nature of our RX7 grinders, allows us to operate "lights-out" with great confidence.

'Although our Anca grinders are primarily involved in the high-volume manufacturing of our standard solid-carbide shank tooling, the machines' ease of programming and software flexibility enables us to use our grinders across a wide range of applications. 'Our Anca grinders allow us to offer relatively short lead-times and competitive pricing for tooling to suit a customer's specific requirements.

'Our customers have learned to expect excellent delivery times on both our standard and non-standard products that are able to accommodate a wide spectrum of materials, from aluminium though to the more demanding materials such as inconel and titanium,' he added. Equally efficient for single-tool and large-volume production, Anca's RX7 CNC grinder features a double-ended, bi-directional spindle and two wheel packs positioned at either end of the spindle, this configuration provides greater wheel selection and access to the workpiece.
