Ellis Apache Clamps For New Burnley College Campus
Apache pipe clamps by Ellis, the plumbing products division of market leading electrical cable and pipe fixing manufacturer, Ellis Patents, have been used throughout Burnley College's new campus. The new GBP81million town centre site, which is due to open in time for the start of the 2009 / 2010 academic year, will also be used by the University of Central Lancashire - a development that means the Lancashire town will have a dedicated university facility for the very first time.
The Ellis Apache clamps, which allow pipes to be hung either with the use of a screwed rod or directly fixed onto framing channel, have been used to secure all domestic copper and heating steel pipes up to 50mm in the development. The clamps are distributed exclusively by BSS nationwide and were chosen for use on the project by leading building services provider, NG Bailey.
Mechanical project manager, Dave Morland of NG Bailey, said: "We went with Ellis because its Apache clamps are undoubtedly the quickest and simplest to install". "The 'twist fit' mechanism means our installers don't waste time struggling with additional fixtures and fittings, but instead are able to twist the clamps into the proprietary rail quickly and cost-effectively".
This innovative feature dramatically reduces installation time so that the installed price of an Ellis Apache clamp is cheaper than any competing product. Manufactured wholly in the UK, there are two versions of Apache, for pipe hangers and for framing channel. Available in 16 different sizes, Apache products are suitable for metric pipes ranging from 15mm to 171mm and imperial pipes from 1/2" to 6" bore. This flexibility is further enhanced by the ratchet design that enables each clamp to accommodate a range of different pipe sizes. Additionally, the robustness of the product design and its good chemical resistance ensure its longevity.
