Maintec Reveals 2010 Keynote Speaker Line-Up

The keynote speaker line-up for the Summit at Easyfairs Maintec 2010 - set to take place on 2-4 March at the NEC in Birmingham - has now been confirmed. Scheduled for 3 March 2010, the Summit - chaired by Steve Morris, deputy president of the Institute of Asset Management - includes papers and case studies from experts in the fields of best practice, human factors, continuous improvement and sustainable energy.

Between them, the speakers will address the key challenges and opportunities impacting on the asset management and maintenance functions going into the next decade. Joining Morris is Sean Hennessy, MEETA and board member of the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies, who will deliver the 2010 industry address. Hennessy will provide an asset management and maintenance overview. Throughout the day, there will be case studies from Wessex Water and Artesis, OEE and Andon Signalling, Chivas Brothers and Idhammer Systems.

The final Summit case study will be delivered by Sean Madden, manufacturing manager, and Neil Goddard, site manager at Johnson Diversey. The presentation will be centred on how Johnson Diversey initially re-organised, restructured and redeployed its engineering function, in order to support the implementation of its maintenance strategy. It will discuss the processes it used, and the successes and failures that it experienced along the way.

Russell Page, senior consult of Process Industries Centre for Manufacturing Excellence, will explore 'human factors' - specifically how to put together good work instructions, while Bill Riseborough, reliability champion at Dow Corning, will set out some of the successes of the Barry improvement programme which has used a blend of Six Sigma and TPM. Alistair Lawry of Warwick University, together with Martin Wager of Cogenco, will explore whether CHP is the answer for those looking for sustainable energy with a reduced environmental impact.
