Dimplex offers a wide range of heat pumps, covering ground, air and water source models. A new range of high efficiency air source models offers levels of efficiency comparable with ground source units, yet without the need for associated ground collectors. The range delivers CoPs in excess of 4.0 even at low ambient air temperatures and is available in a choice of five outputs from 9-40kW. REHAU was a key partner in the opening of the first affordable, low energy, low carbon house designed for the mass market. The house has been built at South Lanarkshire College and was officially opened by John Swinney, cabinet secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth in the Scottish parliament. Sherborne Unveils Ultra-Low Range Load Cells Sherborne Sensors has announced the North American launch of the SS2/SS3 series of ultra-low range precision load cells, designed for applications where extremely low force measurements are required. The SS2/SS3 series offers full range measurement capabilities to 60g, with a 12mV/V full-scale output and virtually infinite resolution, enabling low forces to be resolved down to just a fraction of 1g. Bonded semiconductor strain gauge technology confers high sensitivity and eliminates the fragility associated with non-bonded strain gauge types. The robust design of the SS2/SS3 series features immunity to the effects of eccentric loading, side loading and bending moments, with precision measurement capabilities in either tension or compression mode. Low deflection and high-frequency response characteristics of the SS2/SS3 series are suitable for measuring both peak and transient forces over an operating temperature range of -20 to +90C.

Three-Phase Stepper Motor Offers Low Vibration Astrosyn International has launched the MY4304-01 three-phase stepper motor, which is said to be suitable for the pan-and-tilt control of stage and other entertainment lighting. The company said the three-phase design is capable of exceptionally quiet operation with a low level of vibration, making it ideal for this type of application. A further advantage is said to be its higher precision, with a full step angle of 1.2 deg compared with the more usual 1.8 deg. The high torque, Nema size 24 hybrid motor also features special bearings for high-temperature operation and its modified shaft has a KK2 keyway. AGY Launches Low-Loss Glass Fibre Yarn AGY has introduced L-Glass, a low-loss glass fibre yarn for printed wiring board (PWB) applications. The low dielectric constant (Dk) and low dissipation factor (Df) properties of L-Glass fibre are suitable for designs requiring increased signal speeds and better signal integrity than traditional E-Glass/epoxy substrate materials.
