Five teachers were recognized this year after submitting a one-page lesson plan that emphasized the Got 2B Safe! Four Rules of Safety. The winners include Sheli Gossett of Zolfo Springs, FL; Nicole Cervone-Gish of Warsaw, IN; Julie Carroll of Benson, MN; Amy Payne of Greensboro, NC; and Karen Mensing of Phoenix AZ, who each received a free classroom makeover valued at $10,000 and have their entries featured on the Honeywell Got 2B Safe! website. Honeywell’s UOP Selected To Provide Technology For Petrochemical Production In China

Honeywell UOP’ s technology has been selected to help produce key ingredients for fuels, synthetic rubber and plastics in China. China’s Heilongjiang Anruijia Petrochemical Co. will use Honeywell’s UOP C4 Oleflex™ process to produce isobutylene, a key ingredient for fuels and synthetic rubber, and its UOP Butamer™ process to produce normal butane, a feedstock used to produce the plastic building block, ethylene. Compared with competing processes, Oleflex technology provides the lowest cash cost of production, the highest return on investment and the smallest environmental footprint, enabled by high isobutylene yields, low energy and water consumption, and use of a fully recyclable platinum alumina-based catalyst system. Honeywell Energy Projects Make Wilmington a Municipal Sustainability Showcase

Honeywell announced a $35-million renewable energy project for the City of Wilmington, Del., which will feature a first-of-its-kind facility that converts two sources of biogas into power and heat for the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The project is part of a city-wide initiative to decrease energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions, a program that has also included Honeywell-led solar installations and energy-efficient building improvements. Combined, the upgrades will help the city trim its carbon footprint by approximately 35 percent and meet nearly half of its electricity needs with renewable energy. “The City of Wilmington continues to position itself as a leader in municipal sustainability,” said Mayor James M. Baker. “By working with Honeywell to build the renewable energy facility and make a variety of other unique, innovative improvements across the city, we can significantly reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gases without extra funding from taxpayers.”
