Linear Introduces Four-Port PoE Controller Linear Technology has unveiled the LTC4266 four-port power-over-Ethernet (PoE) controller for power sourcing equipment (PSE) needed to provide IEEE 802.3at (25.5W) or proprietary higher power levels. Next-generation PoE applications call for more power to support demanding features, while increasing power efficiency in an effort to be more environmentally friendly and to reduce costs, according to the company. The LTC4266 provides up to 100W over four-pair Ethernet cabling and is fully compliant with the new IEEE 802.3at PoE+ standard and backward compatible with the prior IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. To help conserve power, the LTC4266 delivers low heat dissipation by using low RDS(ON) MOSFETs and 0.25ohm sense resistors, eliminating the need for expensive heatsinks and providing a stronger PSE solution. The LTC4266 is suitable for a variety of PSE applications, including next-generation switches, routers, hubs and midspans. The low power...

A Jiskoot Jetmix and Viscosity Trim fuel-oil blender system installed at a fishing port in Namibia has delivered savings and a competitive advantage by reducing blended product costs. The fuel-oil blender has an integrated control system and a performance guarantee giving +/-1 per cent viscosity of the target recipe. This skid-mounted system, supplied by the Cameron Jiskoot Quality Systems business unit, was designed to blend in-line heavy fuel oil with gas oil to produce 10m3/h of 70cSt fuel oil that can be pumped directly to the waiting ships at the jetty. It will also provide a representative Marpol-compliant sample as the blend progresses, as well as a representative sample of the incoming feedstocks. The system blends the two feedstocks to ensure a fully homogenous result with guaranteed accuracy and repeatability of viscosity measurement to ensure that it does not exceed the maximum design viscosity at the reference temperature.

ICP DAS USA has announced the launch of the NS-205PSE, a compact, five-port, unmanaged Ethernet switch that connects network elements while supplying up to 15.4W of power per port. Each of the ports supports 10/100Mbps speed auto-negotiation while the device offers 3.2 Gbps of high-performance memory bandwidth, so it can handle some traffic. The NS-205 transitions between different configurations with its auto MDI/MDI-X crossover technology for plug-and-play adaptability. Other notable features include fully duplex IEEE 802.3x and half-duplex back-pressure flow control to avoid data interference, store-and-forward architecture and IEEE 802.3af compliance on its four power-over-Ethernet ports. The NS-205PSE has both auto-detection of powered devices and automatic power management. The unit can operate within a temperature range of -30C to 75C, sports over-temperature, over-current and over/under-voltage detection and is robust. Its LED indicators allow users to quickly monitor its ...
