Parker Shows Nitrogen-Gas Generators At Total The Domnick Hunter Industrial Division of Parker Hannifin will be showcasing its latest technology at Total Process and Packaging 2010, held on 25-27 May at NEC Birmingham. On show at the event will be a selection of the company's cost-effective industrial nitrogen-gas generators, which have been proven to increase productivity and profitability in the process and packaging sectors. The company will be exhibiting its latest Midigas and Maxigas onsite nitrogen-gas generators, designed to provide alternatives to traditional nitrogen sources. These technologies are suitable for use in a range of applications in the process and packaging industry, including modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP), purging, blanketing and pressure transfer. Parker Particle Detection For RAF Aviation Fuels The latest Icount PD particle-detection technology from Parker Hannifin is being trialled by the RAF as part of a programme to enhance the quality and safety of its aviation fuels. Fitted to refuelling vehicles, the Icount PD detection units provide an immediate indication if fuel quality falls below a set threshold, helping to identify contamination caused by particles or moisture and improving productivity while potentially reducing operating costs. The RAF has initially fitted several Icount PD units for evaluation and these are mounted on the outlets of the monitor filter housings on each refuelling vehicle, with the monitor filters being used to remove contamination from the fuel as it is pumped into each aircraft. An integrated probe device is used to extract a sample from the flow of fuel. Parker Actuators Target Demanding Applications Parker Hannifin has enhanced and extended its range of high-speed, high-power linear actuators. The ET Electro Thrust Actuators have been developed for demanding movement, positioning and clamping applications in the packaging, process and materials-handling sectors. They incorporate a precision-class C7 ballscrew, driven either directly by an inline motor or indirectly via a toothed belt from a motor mounted to the body of the actuator. The ballscrew can be supplied with a pitch of 5 to 50mm/revolution and effectively acts as a high-performance feed unit, to move a piston and rod assembly at speeds of up to 1.3m/sec over stroke lengths of between 0.05 and 2.4m. The system is capable of providing a maximum force of 44,500N, yet offers repeatability of within plus or minus 0.01mm, with backlash of just 0.02mm when used with an inline drive. Parker-Origa Protects Drives Against Sticky Fluids Parker-Origa has developed the Clean Design system, which protects linear drives from sugary and sticky fluids present in food manufacturing and other process lines. The Clean Design system protects linear drives - including associated guides, sensors and travel-measurement systems - in a modular, stainless-steel housing sealed to IP64. The resulting drive is ideal for use where intensive washdowns are frequent and in damp, dusty and otherwise challenging environments. Key to the effectiveness of the Clean Design system is the longitudinal-seal along the stroke. A driven element passing through the seal provides the connection between the linear drive and the customer's equipment. The design and layout of the seal is such that fluids run off the outer lip of the seal and do not penetrate inside. The lips of the seal are made from low-wear material and, if necessary, can be changed simply, without the need for assembly aids. The...

Parker-Origa Simplifies Air Preparation

Parker-Origa is aiming to set new standards for air preparation equipment with the launch of the A15. This system is constructed from lightweight polymers instead of the traditional metal, reducing weight and simplifying assembly. The design also reduces the number of variants required to cover the full spectrum of applications, which lowers logistics costs. Further features include a self-adjusting nano mist oiler, which provides fully automatic regulation of the oil volume according to the flow rate of the compressed air. This ensures that the optimum lubrication is always achieved. Functional safety is optimised through the incorporation of a manual or semi-automatic drain valve. The A15 is available in two versions: standard and heavy duty. For air motors and other applications that use large amounts of lubrication, a replenishment system is available offering users an alternative to running on lubricant-free air. Parker Filters Use Aerospace Technology

Parker Hannifin has launched a range of air filters that incorporate aerospace technology for optimised air flow and more efficient filtration. As a result, the Moduflex Extras filters can reduce energy costs and help organisations minimise the environmental impact of pneumatic applications. The flow management system uses a number of features based on aerodynamic principles, allowing flow rates to be increased. These features include a 'bell mouth' inlet, which provides an unrestricted path for air entering the filter element, and a smooth elbow that directs air into the filter element more efficiently than the sharp 90 corner inside most conventional filters, said Parker. Many of the models in the range feature specially designed turning vanes, which channel the incoming air to reduce pressure drop and further increase efficiency.
