Sherborne Unveils Ultra-Low Range Load Cells Sherborne Sensors has announced the North American launch of the SS2/SS3 series of ultra-low range precision load cells, designed for applications where extremely low force measurements are required. The SS2/SS3 series offers full range measurement capabilities to 60g, with a 12mV/V full-scale output and virtually infinite resolution, enabling low forces to be resolved down to just a fraction of 1g. Bonded semiconductor strain gauge technology confers high sensitivity and eliminates the fragility associated with non-bonded strain gauge types. The robust design of the SS2/SS3 series features immunity to the effects of eccentric loading, side loading and bending moments, with precision measurement capabilities in either tension or compression mode. Low deflection and high-frequency response characteristics of the SS2/SS3 series are suitable for measuring both peak and transient forces over an operating temperature range of -20 to +90C.
LVD Enhances Axel 4020 With Load/Unload System LVD has added the option of a load/unload system to its Axel 4020 laser-cutting system, providing continuous, uninterrupted dynamic laser-processing of sheets up to 4 x 2M. Axel 4020 combines linear drive technology, laser power and control systems for large sheet processing. The load/unload system can be easily retrofitted at any time and handles sheets up to 1000kg. It allows loading and unloading functions to be performed independently, with a plate-to-plate changeover time of just 29 seconds. Integration of the load/unload system permits unattended production, freeing the operator to perform other tasks. The Axel 4020 machine and load/unload system feature a modular design, providing maximum efficiency in material handling while minimising the required floor space. The loading station is equipped with spreading magnets, a peeling cup to separate non-ferrous material and a sheet-thickness measurement device. The loading mechanism...

Compression Load Cells Measure Large Loads

RDP Electronics has announced that its Model 13 compression load cell can handle a 1,000lb load and measures just 19mm in diameter and 6.5mm high. The larger model - Model 53 - at 36mm diameter and 25mm us rated for a maximum 30,000lbs. Utilising stainless-steel construction, both versions are physically robust, compact and well-suited for measuring large loads in applications were space is limited. Models D and TH offer the additional benefit of through-hole mounting.

PRT Enables Higher Load Capacities

PBC Linear has announced the release of its Profile Rail Technology (PRT), which will consist of application-specific caged and non-caged runner blocks with a lubrication system. The company said the technology offers longer life, ability for higher load capacities, and corrosion-resistant chrome rail finishing for tolerating harsh environments. Backed by a reservoir lubrication system to ensure longer life and smooth, quiet operation, PRT's runner blocks aim to provide reliable linear motion without further lubrication. As the ball bearings circulate, they are lubricated by end-cap reservoirs, providing a protective lubrication film in the ball tracks, facilitating a long-lasting system. The new caged-type runner blocks have additional built-in oil reservoirs at every cage ball pocket, which extends or eliminates the time between lubrication cycles. Caged runner blocks also provide up to 19 per cent more load capacity and reduce noise and vibration by 84 per cent more than com...
