TTI Adds Harvatek LEDs To Component Portfolio TTI has added Taiwanese LED manufacturer Harvatek to its discrete-components portfolio. Harvatek produces up to 500 million SMD LEDs monthly, with devices also available as light bars. As well as its standard LED portfolio, the manufacturer will also launch infrared devices and LED modules in 2010. Harvatek's product portfolio covers standard SMD LEDs including PLCC2, PLCC4, PLCC6 and 0402, 0603, 0805 and 1206 size chipleds. Power LEDs (Harvaleds) up to 3W, leaded products, displays, light bars and custom solutions are also available. Devices come in all standard colours, bi-colour and RGB.

Bosch Security Unveils Its LED Flat Panel Monitors

Bosch Security Systems launches its LED flat panel high resolution monitors for use with analog video, digital video recorder (DVR) and PC applications. The new range is being introduced alongside a similar range of normal LCD flat panel monitors and will replace the company's current CRT monitor range in the CCTV market. The monitors are available in 8.4 inch and 10.4 inch versions and feature colour LED backlight panels. They offer a maximum brightness of between 400 and 450 cd/m2, high colour accuracy and consistency for easy viewing and interpretation of images, and a maximum contrast ratio between 600:1 and 700:1. The panels refresh every 10 to 20 milliseconds, providing crisp, clear images with minimal smearing and image ghosting in fast motion video. They also feature a wide range of horizontal and vertical viewing angles that provide comfortable, clear viewing. LED backlight panels help to avoid luminance degradation, enabling the monitors to maintain their brightness le...
Philips Lighting Supplies LED Lights For Offices Philips Lighting has supplied solid state Savio remote phosphor LED light fittings and Light Master Modular lighting controls for the Tower 42 offices. Tower 42 has completed a major investment and refurbishment of its Level 12 office space. This is believed to be the first office space in the UK to use all solid state lighting, achieving a significant energy saving of around 40 per cent compared to a conventional T5 fluorescent installation. Tower 42 has introduced energy performance features and reduced its carbon footprint through this extensive investment. 600x600mm Savio fittings, originally developed for use with fluorescent light sources, were adapted and optimised for use with 3 x 18W Fortimo LED light sources to create an edge-to-edge lighting appearance with a uniform and comfortable surface of light. Savio luminaires feature a patented micro-lens optic to ensure optimum light distribution and full glare control, complian...
Go LED Worklights Give 50,000 Hour Illumination Go Distribution has introduced to Australia rugged portable LED worklights designed to provide 10 years or more of optimum clarity and reliability, or 50,000 hours of outstanding illumination. The cordless Hemipro High Power Worklights incorporate high-power LEDs in work lights originally designed for the professional automotive repair market, making them suitable for use in resources including industrial, construction, energy, engineering, water, waste water and safety tasks. Using two or three high-power LEDS, the Hemipro two- and three-LED work lights provide powerful beams that, respectively, equal or exceed the light area intensity of a 60 or 75W beam, according to the company. The lights have a hemispherical lens design that refracts the LEDs into a clean, bright and wide beam. The lens design captures and transfers the LED light into a 70deg beam, while eliminating hot spots, dull areas or halo rings. Designed to provide high...
DC/DC LED Drivers Launched By Powerpax UK Powerpax UK has announced the launch of the PLC24AH range of dimmable, constant current, DC/DC LED drivers. The PLC24AH series provide a step-down constant current source for driving high-brightness LEDs. Standard output currents include 300mA, 350mA, 500mA, 600mA and 700mA, making these drivers compatible with a range of LEDs and applications. The output voltage range for these drivers is 2-32VDC and all models feature continuous short-circuit protection. These products have a compact size and operate without the need for external components. They provide a high-efficiency solution (up to 95 per cent) for LED driving in both standard and dimming applications. Dimming is achieved through use of an industry standard PWM method - the PWM input is specified to operate between 0.2-10Khz. If dimming is not required, the PWM input doubles as a remote On/Off input. This series has an operating temperature range of -40C to +71C (minimum). These dri...
AMLD-IZ Drivers Ensure LED Performance Aimtec has expanded its AMLD-IZ series of step-down DC-DC LED drivers with five new models generating constant output currents reaching 1.2A. The new models have wide input ranges of 5-36V DC that step down to wide output ranges of 2-32V DC. They generate constant output currents of 800, 900, 1,000, 1,100 and 1,200mA, with an accuracy of up to +/- 2 per cent, ensuring the constant colour and brightness required by demanding LED applications. The AMLD-IZ series produces up to 38.4W of power in a compact DIP24 package (31.80 x 20.30 x 10.20mm). It features remote on/off control function as well as PWM and analogue voltage dimming control (0 - 100 per cent). Aimtec's LED drivers have efficiencies of 96 per cent. They are as reliable as the LEDs they drive, allowing them to be used at an operating temperature of -40C to +85C at full load. All of Aimtec's LED drivers are compatible with a range of LED applications. They provide turn-key...

SMT Connector Powers LEDs From Underside Of Board

Tyco has introduced the SMT thru-board connector, which supplies power from the underside of an FR4 or aluminium-clad PC board, eliminating issues of dressing wires on the top side of LED boards. The two-position through six-position connector surface mounts on top of the board, passing through the board to present an underside interface. The connector mates with standard Mini CT connectors. The inverted design allows simpler assembly and installation of solid-state LED lighting in architectural, residential and commercial applications. The Mini CT connector is rated for three amps per contact, on 24 AWG wire. A space-saving low-profile design and rounded corners minimise shadowing. The connector fits through a hole or notch in the board. High-temperature materials allow the connector to be reflow soldered, while a flat-top surface provides compatibility with vacuum pickup. The connector uses surface-mount hold-downs to provide stability during mating and unmating. With UL listing...
