Sprint 300 Plus Improves Quality Of Clean Rooms Sara Loading Bay Specialists has introduced the Sprint 300 Plus clean room door, which enables pharmaceutical and food companies to improve the quality of clean rooms. The high-speed and flexible configuration of the Sprint 300 Plus - with optional FDA-approved materials - means that it is suitable for areas where there is an air-pressure difference, such as clean rooms. In these environments, the Sprint 300 Plus also saves energy and provides maximum safety provision, with an electrically monitored contact safety beam and a clear safety curtain that allows personnel to see movement on either side, which is essential in facilities that employ automated transport. Designed to conform to EN 12424, Class 1, for wind resistance, the Sprint 300 Plus is described as a robust, flexible and highly reliable door that provides smooth and steady movement via a curtain tensioning system. It can be programmed to meet specific customer needs using ...

Multi-Speed Transmission Improves Electric Cars Vocis has developed a multi-speed transmission that will contribute to the acceptance of electric vehicles, and will display it at EVS, the Electric Vehicle Symposium (to be held 13-16 May in Norway). Simulations show that a two-speed configuration could reduce the battery energy consumed by five to 10 per cent over the industry-standard New European Drive Cycle, without increasing cost or packaging volume; it could also extend battery life and potentially help downsize the power-train and battery pack. Andy Turner, EV transmissions specialist at Vocis, said: 'Electric motors have a very wide operating range, but that doesn't mean that they are equally efficient at every speed. 'The torque curve of a typical traction motor is well suited to vehicle propulsion, having maximum torque from zero speed and a wide constant power region. 'However, there is a 'sweet spot', typically at medium speed and medium to high l...

TraceParts Improves Brand Visibility For SNR SNR is a manufacturer of bearings in France and develops parts for the industrial marketplace, automobiles and for the aerospace sector. The company has five production sites in France and six in other locations around the world. Its recent merger with Japanese company NTN was aimed at situating the new group NTN SNR to be ranked third in the world of bearing suppliers. Selecting a bearing is not only the result of simple geometric criteria. In addition, many parameters come into play such as speed, force, or conditions of utilisation. In the mid-1990s, SNR decided to develop a configuring CD-ROM, called ICAT, in order to help its clients define the appropriate equipment with clear criteria. Axel Rocher, marketing manager for the industrial markets at SNR, explains the objectives of this configurator: 'ICAT made it possible to select a bearing from our line using a certain number of formula fields. 'Customers could define geometric s...
