Virtex-6 FPGA Family Passes PCIe 2.0 Compliance Xilinx has announced that its latest-generation Virtex-6 family is compliant with the PCI Express (PCIe) 2.0 specification, delivering up to 50 per cent lower power than previous generations. The second-generation PCIe block integrated in Xilinx Virtex-6 field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) has passed PCI-SIG PCIe 2.0 compliance and interoperability testing for one- to eight-lane configurations. This milestone is expected to accelerate the mainstream development of high-bandwidth PCIe 2.0 systems for communications, multimedia, server and mobile platforms, enabling applications such as high-definition video, high-end medical imaging and industrial instrumentation. Goepel Develops Juliett Family Of JTAG Testers Goepel Electronic has announced the development of Juliett (JTAG unlimited tester): a family of completely integrated standalone production testers. The modular systems combine all test electronics and the basic mechanics in a compact desktop system. Additionally, they are equipped with a specific interface to an exchangeable adaptor, giving fast changes to accommodate different units under test (UUTs). Thomas Wenzel, director of the boundary scan division at Goepel Electronic, said: 'The increased use of extended boundary scan techniques has led to the need for a completely integrated production system. Perkinelmer Expands Digipyro Family Of Detectors Perkinelmer has added two dual-element models to the Digipyro family of pyroelectric detectors, designed for safety and security applications. The latest members of the family are called the Smart Digipyro PYD 1096 and the Miniature Digipyro PYD 5731. The Smart Digipyro PYD 1096 dual-element pyrodetector provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with advantages over traditional analogue-based motion detection, including improved EMI immunity and reduced cost and space requirements. In addition, the Smart Digipyro delivers a number of benefits, including fully integrated event logic timing, adjustable sensitivity settings and ambient light sensing.
