Orchid Offers Miniature DC Motor Controller Orchid Technologies' low-cost, miniature, brushless DC motor controller is claimed to pack a large amount of power into a tiny electronics package. The miniature controller is designed to drive 48V brushless DC motors up to 1,400W. Small physical sizes make it possible to develop high torque and operating speeds when overall product size and weight are application limited. The company claims that it combined cost-sensitive engineering with precision power electronics to craft an efficient, high-performing, three-phase power-output stage. Working closely with silicon vendors, Orchid selected FET output-stage devices while matching drive and sensing technology characteristics. Sprint Expands Range Of Digital DC Drives

Sprint Electric has brought out digital DC drives that function up to 1850A (800 KW/1080 HP). The digital DC drives are available in two-quadrant and four-quadrant options. They control DC motors used in heavy-industry applications such as mining, metal working or the cement industry. The high-voltage models are available for supplies up to 690VAC to enable control of DC motors up to 750VDC. Centre-winding macros, spindle orientation and a controllable field allow the user to control DC motors in heavy-industry applications. The PLX is configurable by the user and comes equipped, as standard, with a comprehensive suite of application blocks. A configuration checker detects any conflicts in the configurations generated by the user. The motor-protection features reduce downtime. New Junction Box Lets DC Sensors Be Used in AC Applications

TURCK's New M12 Eurofast AC/DC Junction Box contains an integrated DC power supply that allows the use of DC sensors in AC applications. This unique 4-port junction box simulates a 2-wire AC sensor providing a cost-effective solution that is easier than installing a separate power supply and relays. Costs are reduced by using DC sensors, which are generally less expensive, instead of AC sensors. The newly integrated power supply also permits the end user to utilize the more prevalent and varied DC sensors in every application, and reduces sensor stock levels. The AC/DC Interlink BT Junction Box offers 85-132 VAC input, 100 mA output per port, and 24 VDC output to PNP short-circuit protected sensors only. The die-cast aluminum alloy, fully encapsulated housing offers IP 67 protection when all ports are connected or are covered with closure caps. A 7-pin minifast ® connector provides home run quick connection.
