Stepper-Motor Controller Mounts 42mm Flange Motor The TMCM-110-42 is an intelligent stepper-motor controller and driver module designed to be mounted directly on a 42mm flange motor. The module converts the motor into a compact mechatronic device with bus-oriented or standalone control. The motor, switches, power and multi-purpose I/Os can be connected with small plug-in connectors. The module comes with the PC-based software-development environment TMCL-IDE for the Trinamic Motion Control Language (TMCL). Using predefined TMCL high-level commands, a rapid development of motion-control applications is guaranteed. There are two inputs for reference, stop switches, one general-purpose digital or analogue input and one output. The TMCM-110-42 can be controlled via an RS-232, RS-485, IC or CAN interface and communication traffic is kept very low as all time-critical operations are performed onboard. The programme can be stored in the onboard EEPROM for standalone operation and the fi...

Linear Introduces Four-Port PoE Controller Linear Technology has unveiled the LTC4266 four-port power-over-Ethernet (PoE) controller for power sourcing equipment (PSE) needed to provide IEEE 802.3at (25.5W) or proprietary higher power levels. Next-generation PoE applications call for more power to support demanding features, while increasing power efficiency in an effort to be more environmentally friendly and to reduce costs, according to the company. The LTC4266 provides up to 100W over four-pair Ethernet cabling and is fully compliant with the new IEEE 802.3at PoE+ standard and backward compatible with the prior IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. To help conserve power, the LTC4266 delivers low heat dissipation by using low RDS(ON) MOSFETs and 0.25ohm sense resistors, eliminating the need for expensive heatsinks and providing a stronger PSE solution. The LTC4266 is suitable for a variety of PSE applications, including next-generation switches, routers, hubs and midspans. The low power...

Orchid Offers Miniature DC Motor Controller Orchid Technologies' low-cost, miniature, brushless DC motor controller is claimed to pack a large amount of power into a tiny electronics package. The miniature controller is designed to drive 48V brushless DC motors up to 1,400W. Small physical sizes make it possible to develop high torque and operating speeds when overall product size and weight are application limited. The company claims that it combined cost-sensitive engineering with precision power electronics to craft an efficient, high-performing, three-phase power-output stage. Working closely with silicon vendors, Orchid selected FET output-stage devices while matching drive and sensing technology characteristics. It selected an ST7MC microcontroller as the brains of the brushless DC motor controller. The ST7MC's feature-rich complement of flash program store, static RAM, Eeprom, a patented motor controller, timers, analogue-to-digital conversion circuitry and robust pr...

Rockwell Bases Fluid Router On Process Controller Rockwell Automation has introduced a repeatable fluid-routing solution delivered on a process-controller platform. It is a configurable system that gives consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers a method of transferring fluids from one destination to the next. Mike Jamieson, global director - consumer packaged goods - Rockwell Automation, said: 'The fluid-routing solution helps simplify the fluid-routing process by using pre-developed modules to define and control routing paths. 'This helps to reduce system life-cycle costs and improve scalability.' The Rockwell Automation fluid-routing solution is delivered on the Logix Control Platform and the Factorytalk integrated production and performance software suite. It applies standard control technology and reusable engineering that can be easily deployed in most production environments - from simple, partially automated facilities to complex, fully-automated piping networ...
