Dryers Operate Without Water Or Compressed Air Summit Systems has introduced a range of absorbing dryers with capacities from just 1.3kg/h. Summit said that its Dryplus series offers at least a 40 per cent lower energy consumption when compared with old twin tower desiccant drying technology. Based on a four-stage circuit, the dryer is designed to constantly operate at maximum performance to ensure an efficient drying process. Other designs only employ a three-stage system, offering a dewpoint of -35C to -40C. The Dryplus has a dewpoint range from -35C to -55C. This lower dewpoint reduces the stress on the material and optimises its viscosity in the processing equipment, while cutting down on energy use. Other specific features include an automatic, intelligent set-up mode where operators need only input the type of material and the desired output. Energair Cuts Compressed Air Energy Bill Gelpack Industrial has made an annual saving of more than 45 per cent on energy used to generate compressed air using a retro-fit variable speed drive package from Energair. A compressed air audit conducted at Gelpack Industrial revealed that 40.189 per cent of the input energy used to power the compressors was not productive, and that the system pressure was kept above what was required. This was due to the inefficient operation of two fixed-speed, 75kW, Worthington Rollair compressors, which were used on a rotating system to provide compressed air to the factory. The audit highlighted the potential savings that could be made by retro fitting a variable speed drive (VSD) package to reduce offload running and match air generation more closely to system demand. The new fifth-generation Elektronikon graphical-display controller and the integrated Energy Saving (ES) Systems ES4/6i increase compressed-air efficiency, resulting in lower operating costs. In addition, free online visualisation enables remote monitoring, allowing for anticipation of operating and maintenance needs. Atlas has expanded the Energy Saving (ES) System to simultaneously control, with the ES6i, up to six variable-speed drives or fixed-speed compressors.
