Dryers Operate Without Water Or Compressed Air Summit Systems has introduced a range of absorbing dryers with capacities from just 1.3kg/h. Summit said that its Dryplus series offers at least a 40 per cent lower energy consumption when compared with old twin tower desiccant drying technology. Based on a four-stage circuit, the dryer is designed to constantly operate at maximum performance to ensure an efficient drying process. Other designs only employ a three-stage system, offering a dewpoint of -35C to -40C. The Dryplus has a dewpoint range from -35C to -55C. This lower dewpoint reduces the stress on the material and optimises its viscosity in the processing equipment, while cutting down on energy use. Other specific features include an automatic, intelligent set-up mode where operators need only input the type of material and the desired output. A countdown timer on the display indicates when the material is dry and ready to be used, so that it cannot be over dried. Summit offers a...

Newport Air Compressor Is Ultra Quiet

Newport Corporation has introduced the compact, ultra-quiet (30dB(A) at 1ft) ACWS air compressor. The company said that the ACWS is clean, portable and more convenient than bottled air supplies. The fast-filling, economical ACWS can supply air to any Newport Isostation workstation or Smarttable-OTS system. The supply tank is large enough to supply air for up to three workstations, making the ACWS an economical choice for new labs or for upgrading existing nitrogen-bottle configurations. The ultra-quiet compressor operates intermittently, based on air usage and is monitored by a sensor that maintains the reserve tank's preset minimum pressure. All required hardware, such as the safety valve, gauges, outlet port, fittings and drain, comes as standard. The ACWS package also includes a high-grade five-micron air filter/regulator to complete the system. For higher-capacity needs, Newport offers the ACGP, which offers the same ultra-quiet performance for larger isolator systems such...
Energair Cuts Compressed Air Energy Bill Gelpack Industrial has made an annual saving of more than 45 per cent on energy used to generate compressed air using a retro-fit variable speed drive package from Energair. A compressed air audit conducted at Gelpack Industrial revealed that 40.189 per cent of the input energy used to power the compressors was not productive, and that the system pressure was kept above what was required. This was due to the inefficient operation of two fixed-speed, 75kW, Worthington Rollair compressors, which were used on a rotating system to provide compressed air to the factory. The audit highlighted the potential savings that could be made by retro fitting a variable speed drive (VSD) package to reduce offload running and match air generation more closely to system demand. One area that can use a lot of non-productive energy is compressed air generation. Many companies are still unwittingly operating systems inefficiently through excessive compressors id...
Convair Portable Evaporative Air Coolers Keep your workplace cool this summer with Convair portable evaporative air coolers from Scott Brothers. With temperatures predicted to reach a high 30degC during August 2009, heralded by 28degC in late May, now is the time to invest in portable coolers to keep working environments pleasant. An ideal solution is a portable bioclimatic evaporative air cooler such as the Convair Portable Evaporative Air Cooler, Australia's leading air cooling product, which is distributed in the UK exclusively by Scott Brothers . Unique and indispensable, the Scott range of evaporative air coolers is available for delivery now, keeping workplace temperatures cool and comfortable and is suitable for most commercial and domestic environments, including shops, offices, dental and medical practices and even florists. Evaporative air coolers are the low cost, low energy, environmentally friendly alternative to refrigerative fixed air conditioning. Featuring mo...
Atlas Controls Reduce Compressed-Air Costs Atlas Copco Compressors has introduced the next generation in compressor controls across its oil-injected screw compressor range 11-90 kW GA/GA+/GA VSD. The new fifth-generation Elektronikon graphical-display controller and the integrated Energy Saving (ES) Systems ES4/6i increase compressed-air efficiency, resulting in lower operating costs. In addition, free online visualisation enables remote monitoring, allowing for anticipation of operating and maintenance needs. Atlas has expanded the Energy Saving (ES) System to simultaneously control, with the ES6i, up to six variable-speed drives or fixed-speed compressors. The Elektronikon graphical-display controller is a colour display, housed on the compressor, that shows several compressor and dryer parameters while built-in algorithms automatically implement energy-saving cycles for fan and dryer. Additional features such as dual-pressure band and timer-based controls enable Atlas Copco to m...
IM100 To Test Air Spring Impact Properties Imatek has completed the installation of an IM100 impact tester at Firestone Industrial Products that will be used to test and develop the impact properties of air springs and their component parts. The parts are used in suspension systems for the automotive and rail industries. Imatek's IM100 is an instrumented impact tester providing impact speeds up to 6m/s and uses a variable mass system of up to 200kg to provide impact energies from 1000 Joules to 5000 Joules. Instrumentation is based around a 250KN precision load cell coupled to Imatek's C3008 data-capture system and a PC running the Impacqt system control and data analysis software. Imatek's Impacqt software is designed to allow for the configuration of the drop parameter, the data capture and the analysis of resulting data. The software is designed for high productivity. There is no limit to the number or complexity of results that may be defined, so analysis can be t...

Parker-Origa Simplifies Air Preparation

Parker-Origa is aiming to set new standards for air preparation equipment with the launch of the A15. This system is constructed from lightweight polymers instead of the traditional metal, reducing weight and simplifying assembly. The design also reduces the number of variants required to cover the full spectrum of applications, which lowers logistics costs. Further features include a self-adjusting nano mist oiler, which provides fully automatic regulation of the oil volume according to the flow rate of the compressed air. This ensures that the optimum lubrication is always achieved. Functional safety is optimised through the incorporation of a manual or semi-automatic drain valve. The A15 is available in two versions: standard and heavy duty. For air motors and other applications that use large amounts of lubrication, a replenishment system is available offering users an alternative to running on lubricant-free air. This will ensure a permanently optimised level of lubrication ...
