Tool Offers 3D Injection Moulding Flow Simulation Cimatron CAD/CAM provider Foregone Solutions has announced a partnership with Coretech System that will offer 3D injection moulding flow simulation for medical device manufacturers and more. As a result of this partnership, mould designers can now simulate and analyse the injection moulding process from within CimatronE. This will enable users to ensure optimal placement of injection points, increasing the quality of the manufactured part. Coretech's Moldex3D Explorer analyses tool displays a full 3D visualisation of the moulding process, providing the inner temperature and pressure of the cavity. CimatronE users will be able to evaluate the welding line, air traps, flow balance, cooling time, the number of gates needed, and the location of the gates. The Moldex3D Explorer add-on is activated with only a few clicks in CimatronE and requires no additional training or CAD conversion. A report generator enables users to provide relevan...

Solidworks 3D Mouse Enhances Navigation 3D Connexion has announced 3D mouse capabilities for Solidworks, designed to bring increased navigation intelligence to the design process. With this feature, 3D Connexion 3D mice can automatically follow a designer's point of interest and continuously determine the optimal centre of rotation, enabling an easier and more intuitive exploration of the largest models and the smallest details. In addition, the centre of rotation can now be seen at all times via an icon. 3D Connexion will be demonstrating the feature at Solidworks World in Anaheim from 31 January to 3 February, 2010. When using the new update, two modes of setting the centre of rotation are available. The Auto Rotation Centre sets the centre of rotation to a point on the model that is nearest to the display-screen centre, particularly useful for use at higher zoom levels. For additional control, users can easily pick a new centre of rotation point on the 3D model to suit the desi...

Traceparts To Showcase 3D Library Of Catalogues Traceparts, a member of the Trace Software Group, will join the 2010 Solidworks World Conference, which is due to be held in Anaheim, California, from 31 January to 3 February. The productivity benefits of the Traceparts 3D library of suppliers' catalogues will be demonstrated in the Partner Pavilion in Booth 109. With more than 100 million native 3D computer-aided-design (CAD) models for Solidworks, the Tracepartsonline.net portal eliminates the time-consuming process of finding and modelling international standard and manufacturers' components. This allows the designer to spend more time on the critical stages of the design process. Traceparts leveraged the Solidworks openness to develop a library of standard Solidworks-native 3D parts. Designers from all industries, particularly those involved in industrial machinery, tooling, automotive and aerospace design, benefit from all the most commonly used components from the mec...

3D CAD Environment Combines Modelling And Design IronCAD has released its IronCAD 3D design solution version 2009, combining modelling and structured design into a single environment. IronCAD has also introduced a 2D design environment integrated within IronCAD that offers mechanical design capabilities to assist in detailing 3D and 2D design data. All new customers buying Ironcad will automatically receive Version 2009 Next Generation. Next Generation provides the combination of IronCAD's design environment with the more conventional history-based structured-design environment, allowing users to choose at an individual part level which process is most appropriate for the particular part they are designing. IronCAD's structure part design allows users to build rigid feature dependant parts with embedded design intent, delivering control over future changes and a predictable structure to the design. With Next Generation, IronCAD offers the customer a choice between Structu...

Optigo 3D Measurement Checks Mecaner's Dies Cognitens has supplied its Optigo 3D optical measurement system to Spanish sheet-metal die producer Mecaner SA. The white-light system - which facilitates quality iterations and manufacturing-process corrections in real time - is being used for dimensional inspection and reverse-engineering applications. Mecaner chose the Cognitens system for its speed, reliability and increased productivity. It complements inspection outputs from five co-ordinate-measuring machines operated by the company's quality-control department. Alberto Goirigolzarri, senior director of quality and environment at Mecaner, said: 'There were several reasons why we chose the Optigo system. 'It is portable, which allows us to use it throughout our entire production process. 'The precision and reliability of measurements is comparable with our existing CMMs, while its ability to analyse part measurements is superior.' The Cognitens Optigo system...
