Honeywell Announces Winners of Got 2B Safe! Contest

In 2005, Honeywell partnered with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and developed the Got 2B Safe! awards program to recognize those teachers with an enormous commitment to promoting child safety and encourage educators at elementary schools nationwide to teach their students valuable and potentially life-saving lessons.

Five teachers were recognized this year after submitting a one-page lesson plan that emphasized the Got 2B Safe! Four Rules of Safety. The winners include Sheli Gossett of Zolfo Springs, FL; Nicole Cervone-Gish of Warsaw, IN; Julie Carroll of Benson, MN; Amy Payne of Greensboro, NC; and Karen Mensing of Phoenix AZ, who each received a free classroom makeover valued at $10,000 and have their entries featured on the Honeywell Got 2B Safe! website.

Every day, more than 2,000 U.S. children are reported missing and thousands more are exposed to dangerous situations. Through the donations of more than 4,000 Honeywell employees, Got 2B Safe! has been distributed to every elementary school in America – more than 72,000 schools! –  to reach over 5 million children with life-saving lessons. With initiatives like Got 2B Safe!, Honeywell Hometown Solutions is delivering programs in Family Safety & Security to help keep our communities safer – one child, one teacher, one family at a time.
