Mini-Demister Separates Liquid-Vapour Mixtures

The Phymetrix Mini-Demister separates liquid-vapour mixtures in portable gas analysers, so that they do not compromise sensitive analyser components. Suitable for SF6 moisture-measurement oil-carryover separation, it fits on top of the Phymetrix PPMa hand-held moisture analyser. The Mini-Demister allows liquids to settle to the bottom of the separator under force of gravity, where they are drained out through a metering valve.

The sample travels through the container tube at a low velocity, minimising the entrainment of any liquid droplets in the gas as it exits near the top of the separator and flows down into the analyser. The glass container tube affords the operator a 360deg view of the accumulated liquid. Adjusting the drain-metering valve optimises the liquid removal with minimum waste of sample gas. The product is miniaturised (1 x 3.65in) to allow connecting directly on top of a small, hand-held analyser, such as the Phymetrix PPMa, as well as other manufacturer's gas analysers.

It has an Axial in-line construction with the inlet positioned on top and the outlet on the bottom. The rotatable drain valve and port can be positioned as needed. The outlet to the analyser has a built-in facility for an optional flow-control pressure-drop orifice. The instrument has a stainless-steel housing, Viton seals and a glass container tube that provides the seal integrity necessary for demanding measurements such as low levels of moisture. The Mini-Demister is easy to disassemble and clean if needed.

The glass tube is rated for 150psi and has an outer impact-resistant, protective, clear-plastic shield that prevents nicks and scratches in the field. A variety of inlet and outlet port-fitting types are available, for example NPT, SAE straight-thread with o-ring seals and swageable tube. The liquid is visible, drains out in a controlled fashion and does not accumulate in absorbent materials to outgas when the analyser is used in other measurements. There are no hygroscopic materials employed.
